John Paul Jones

John Paul Jones, age 89, of Jackson, passed away Saturday, April 25, 2015 at his home. He was born in Herndon, West Virginia on July 20, 1925 to the late Jesse (a Confederate soldier) and Maude (DeBord) Jones.

He is survived by daughters, Joan P. (Jones) Wolf, Jackie P. Jones, Joyce P. Jones, Juanita (Jones) Rickauer; son, Jeffrey (Cindy) Jones; grandchildren, James Jones Weis, Jay (Susan) Wolf, Scott (Alicia) Wolf, Betty E. Jones, and Travis Taylor; great grandchildren, Remington Weis, Jack Wolf, Joshua Marcum, Sydney Wolf, Bobby Wolf and Meg Wolf; and many other relatives and friends.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded by his first wife, Betty E. (Stephens) Jones, who died January 16, 1961; son-in-law, John D. Wolf; his sons, John P. Jones Jr. and James P. Jones; 3 brothers, Donald, Herb, and Bill Jones; 1 sister; a granddaughter, Jillian Paige Jones.

John was a United States Marine, serving in the Korean War, he was also a China Marine, a lifetime member of the N.R.A., supporting our 2nd amendment rights to keep and bear arms. He also was a member of the VFW Post 8402, American Legion Post 81, a member of the Sons of Confederate Soldiers, honorary lifetime member of the Communications Workers of America, Marine Corps League Circleville Detachment. John retired from Ohio Bell in 1981, after 33 years.

Friends may call Tuesday, April 28, from 4 p.m.-8 p.m. at the Lewis & Gillum Funeral Home of Jackson. A prayer service will follow at 8 p.m. with Father Thomas Hamm of the St. Louis Catholic Church officiating. Burial will be held at a later date at the convenience of the family.
