Larry Brooks

Larry E. (Tuffy) Brooks, age 77, of Oak Hill, formerly of the Glen Roy area, passed away Wednesday, April 22, 2015 after a lengthy illness. He was born May 12, 1937 in Glen Roy, Ohio to the late Archie and Margaret (Deck) Brooks.

Larry was a 1956 graduate of Coalton High School. He worked several years as a deputy Sheriff in Jackson and Vinton Counties. He worked for the CDC of Ohio as a housing inspector for many years and he was a longtime Coal Township trustee. He had been a member of the Republican Central Committee. Larry was a very hard working man all his life, but what he liked to do most was farming. He loved being on his tractor on his farm taking care of his cattle. He was a loving and caring husband, father, step-father, grandfather, brother, and friend. He was always willing to lend a hand to help someone in need. He attended Oak Hill First Baptist Church and had been a former member of Wills Chapel Church.

Larry is survived by his loving wife and caregiver, Judy (Thurston) Brooks; son, Rick (Cheryl) Brooks; daughter, Pam (Tim) Updike; grandson, Timmy; step-daughter and caregiver, Jennie (Brian) Hall; and granddaughter, Ali Sullivan who was always the light of his life.

In addition to his parents, Larry was preceded in death by sisters, Rosalie Poling and Margret (Peg) Wheatly; brothers, Rodney Brooks, Roger Brooks, and infant brother Lewis Brooks.

Funeral services and burial will held at the convenience of the family. Burial will be held at CM Cemetery. No public visitation will be observed.
