George T. McKenzie “Tim,” age 57, of Wellston, passed away Thursday, April 16, 2015 at the Holzer Medical Center of Jackson. He was born October 5, 1957 in Columbus, Ohio to Charlotte Skaggs McKenzie and the late Hargas R. McKenzie.
George was a member of the VFW 8420 and enjoyed camping, listening to bluegrass music and attending bluegrass festivals; and especially spending time with his granddaughter Kaylee Smith who he adored.
He is survived by his daughter, Amy Nichole McKenzie; son, Timothy R. McKenzie; stepchildren: Shawn Blanton and Stacey Blanton; brothers: Larry McKenzie and Mike O’Roark; sisters: Sue Vanwie and Leesa Fogel; granddaughter: Kaylee Smith as well as several nieces and nephews. His father, his brother, Steven McKenzie, and his sister, Rita Channell, preceded him in death.
A celebration of life was held from 2 to 8 p.m. on Sunday, April 19, 2015 at the Mayhew-Brown Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Tim’s name can be made to: Peoples Bank, c/o George McKenzie, 101 East A Street, Wellston, Ohio 45692.
