Edith Mae (Coffey) Owsley

Edith Mae (Coffey) Owsley, age 82, of Jackson Ohio, formerly of McArthur Ohio, passed away Friday April 3, 2015 at Four Winds Nursing Facility of Jackson, Ohio surrounded by her family. She was born June 6, 1932 in Salyersville, Kentucky to the late Columbus L. and Margaret (Wireman) Coffey. She married Berlin Owsley on May 22, 1952, and from this union bore three sons. They continued to be a very devoted and loving couple for nearly 63 years, caring for and always considering each other in every decision they made throughout their marriage.

She was a 1951 graduate of Coalton High School, Coalton Ohio. She’s a baptized member of Maggie’s Home Baptist Church, Dundas Ohio. She worked as a cook at Arcadia Acres Nursing Home, Ilesboro Ohio and later as a nurse’s aid at Twin Maples Nursing Home, McArthur, Ohio, where she retired. She was a devoted wife, mother and dear friend to many and always enjoyed getting together with family and friends. She enjoyed gardening, quilting, crocheting, and being the neighborhood barber; always willing to help the best she could, in any way she could. She was an excellent cook and she loved inviting people into her home for a meal and good fellowship. She also loved attending her church, where she could worship and praise the lord alongside all of her spiritual brothers and sisters. She will be sadly missed by all that knew her.

Edith is survived by her husband, Berlin Owsley of Jackson, Ohio; sons, Ron (Birgit) Owsley of Jackson, Ohio, Gerald (Mary) Owsley of Marietta, Ohio, and Berlin D. (Mindy) Owsley of Athens, Ohio; brother, Winford (Joan) Coffey of North Fairfield, Ohio; sister-in-law, Arpie Coffey of Jackson, Ohio; as well as several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was proceeded in death by several brothers and sisters; David Coffey, Dormant Coffey, Rebecca Moore, Liberty Coffey, Susie Shepherd, Curt Coffey, Dan Coffey, Mary Patrick, Martha Frazier, Russell Coffey, Bertha Stacy, and Myrtle Coffey.

All viewing and funeral services will be held Friday April 10, at Maggie’s Home Baptist Church, Benner Road, Dundas, Ohio. Viewing hours are from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Funeral service will begin at 1 p.m. with Elder Don Mullins officiating. Burial will follow at Elk Cemetery, McArthur, Ohio.
