Roger Dean McGhee

Roger Dean McGhee, age 50, of Pyro, Ohio, passed away on Saturday, February 28, 2015 at his home surrounded by his family. He was born on October 27, 1964 to Daisy (Vititoe) McGhee and the late Charles “Bus” McGhee.

He graduated from Jackson High School in 1984. He married the love of his life, Rhonda Williams McGhee, on August 13, 1983. He was an avid outdoorsman. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and several sports, both as a player and a coach. He was truly one of a kind, helping anyone he could in any way he could. He was a loving son, husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

He is survived by his wife of 31 years, Rhonda McGhee; mother, Daisy McGhee; daughter, Erica McGhee (Jon Stevinson) of Jackson, Ohio; son, Scott (Shaun Miller) McGhee of Grove City, Ohio; grandchildren, Landon, Garrett, and Paige Dailey, Casey, Eli, and Braedyn Stevinson; brothers, Chuck (Jo) McGhee, Eddie (Sharon) McGhee, Gary (Norma) McGhee, Rick (Sis) McGhee, and Donnie McGhee; sisters, Debbie (Everett) Grow and Etta McGhee; aunts, Norma Simmermacher, Karen Rayl, and Betty Waugh; uncle, Lonnie McGhee; father-in-law, Randel Williams; brother-in-law, Randy (Amy) Williams; sister-in-law, Robin (Ryan) Burton, along with several nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Along with his father, Roger was preceded in death by his grandparents, James and Saide Vititoe and Frank and Dorothy McGhee; sisters, Vicky McGhee, Tammy McGhee, and Diane Martin; mother-in-law, Betty Williams; grandmother-in-law, Golda Carter; along with several aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Calling hours will be held Friday, March 6, 2015 at the Lewis & Gillum Funeral Home of Oak Hill from 4 to 8 p.m. A scattering of the ashes will be held at a later date at the convenience of the family.
