Marva Ellen Rankins

By | February 9, 2015

Marva Ellen Rankins, age 78, went home to be with the Lord Jesus on Friday, February 6, 2015. Marva was born July 16, 1936 in Oak Hill to the late Orville and Gladys (Spriggs) Rankins. She enjoyed being with family and friends. She began her work career at Armbruster Restaurant in 1955, then went to work at Davis Market; both of Oak Hill, Ohio. She finished her working career at Goodyear Tire and Rubber of Jackson, Ohio from which she retired after 29 years of service. After declining health over the past few years, she went on to be with the Lord and loved ones before her.

Marva was a member of the Trinity Wesleyan Church, attending services when she could. There were many different activities she was involved in. Church functions would keep her busy; including aggravating her Sunday school teacher, vacation bible school, picnics, church programs, and anything else she could get in to. She would keep the roads hot by attending her nieces’ and nephews’ school functions, from twirling competitions, to beauty contests, to football games, or to a wrestling match. She was faithful to support all her family.

She is survived by her siblings, Donna (Rankins) Woods, Tom Rankins, Judy (Coppock) Rankins, and Virginia (Rankins) Snyder. She is beloved by many nieces and nephews, who were her children.

Preceding her death in addition to her parents was her niece, Sara Snyder; her aunts, Winifred Beal and MaryLou Brammer; nephew, Eddie Logan; and brothers-in-law, Weldon Woods and John Snyder.

Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, February 10, 2015 from 2 to 8 p.m. at the Lewis & Gillum Funeral Home of Oak Hill, Ohio.
