George Hogan Trace

George Hogan Trace, 87, of Ray, Ohio, passed away on Saturday morning, December 20, 2014, at his home. He was born in Coalton, Ohio, November 22, 1927 to the late Wilbur and Gertrude Lucas Trace. He was a graduate of Coalton High School and a WW II Merchant Marine/Navy veteran. He was employed as an administrative judge with U.S.D.A. He was a member of the following: Sts. Peter & Paul Church, Knights of Columbus, Vintage Club, Columbus Base USSVI Submariners, Jackson BPOE, American Legion Post #371 of Wellston, and the Jackson County Republican Party on both the central and executive committee. He was past president of the Wellston School Board. He was an avid golfer and past president of Fairgreens Country Club and a member of the Franklin Valley Golf Course. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Carolyn June Perez.

Surviving is his wife, Dorothy Sanger Riepenhoff-Trace; children, Gregg Trace (Joan) of Florida, Rick Trace of Georgia, Cheryl Trace Gavin, John Trace, Marjorie Trace Preston (Keith), and Carol Ann Trace Kincaid (Mike) all of Florida; Kirk Trace (Wanda) of Tennessee, Arthur Riepenhoff (Edgar) of Illinois, Dorothy Riepenhoff (Scott Ford) of Wellston, Joseph Riepenhoff (Molly) of Worthington, Ohio, and David Riepenhoff (Emily) of Westerville, Ohio. Surviving grandchildren are Christopher, Jennifer, Cheri, Audrey, and Gabrielle Trace; Nick Bobo, Joseph Kight, Wesley Kincaid; and Hunter, Lauren, Catherine, Amelia, Ethan, and Will Riepenhoff. Also great-grandchildren, cousins, many friends, and two dogs (Holly and Lucky) and a cat (Grizabella) survive.

At the request of the deceased, a graveside service will be Monday, December 22, at 2 p.m. at the Evergreen Cemetery on Sour Run Road. Military honor services will be by the American Legion Post #371, and Father Donald Maroon will officiate the burial.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions be made to Honor Flight Columbus, P.O. Box 12036, Columbus, Ohio 43212, or to Sts. Peter & Paul Church, 227 S. New York Ave., Wellston, Ohio 45692.
