Phillip Anthony Jordan

Phillip Anthony Jordan was born August 31, 1952 on Kessinger School Road, in Jackson, Ohio to Oliver Cove Jordan and Elvira Lucille (Phelps) Jordan at their home. He passed away on November 6, 2014 at St. John’s Hospital in Springfield, Illinois.

Phil served in the United States Army during the Vietnam Era. For the majority of his life, he had lived in Ohio and Illinois. He was married to Marlene Lynn (Davis) Jordan of Springfield and they raised five children, David Wayne Jordan of Sherman, Jodi Lynn Jordan of Decatur, Shelley Renee (Jordan) Dunlevy of Virden – wife of Jordan Dunlevy, Shelba Jean (Jordan) Fox of Petersburg – wife of Jeremy Fox, and Eric Steven Jordan of Springfield.

After divorcing, Phillip moved to Sherman, Illinois where he lived with his beloved girlfriend Rose Mary Mohn until his death.

He has 14 beautiful grandchildren and six sisters who survive: Zora Louise (Jordan) Minor of Circleville, Ohio, Linda Pauline (Jordan) Bowyer of Robertsdale, Alabama, Stella Elizabeth (Jordan) Torres of Sunsites, Arizona, Ruth Ann (Jordan) Setzer Heady of Valliant, Oklahoma, Nancy Irene (Jordan) Baisden of Jackson, Ohio, and Carla Diane Jordan of Conifer, Colorado.

He has several nieces and nephews, as well as numerous great-nieces and great-nephews.

Also surviving are two aunts, Stella (Patrick) Jordan of Ohio and Delia (Phelps) Cross of New Mexico. He was preceded in death by his parents, Oliver Cove Jordan and Elvira Lucille Phelps Jordan, as well as a sister, Alma Jean Jordan and brothers, Floyd Andrew Jordan, David Wayne Jordan and Barry Steven Jordan.

Phil loved fishing and working on cars. He loved a good joke and spending time with his friends, children, and grandchildren. Most people that met him liked him and he will be greatly missed by all those who loved him.

Cremation will be accorded by Butler Cremation Tribute Center prior to ceremonies.

Memorial Gathering: Family will receive friends from 3 until 6 p.m. on Saturday, November 8, 2014 at Kirlin-Egan & Butler Funeral Home, 900 S. 6th St., Springfield, Illinois.

Burial will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, November 12, 2014 at Camp Butler National Cemetery, where military honors will be conducted.
