Steven T. McCorkle

Steven T. McCorkle, 66, formerly of Oak Hill, more recently of Jackson, Ohio, died at 1:10 p.m. Sunday, June 1, 2014 at S.O.M.C. Hospice Center, Portsmouth, Ohio.

He was born January 17, 1948 in Gallipolis, Ohio, the son of Cecil T. and Carolyn (Jones) McCorkle of Oak Hill, Ohio. On April 18, 1970, Steven was united in marriage to Carol I. (Wilson) McCorkle who survives.

Also surviving are a son, Joseph “Joe” McCorkle and wife Ruth of Zanesville, Ohio; sister, Vickie Snyder of Oak Hill, Ohio; father-in-law, Jim Wilson; sisters-in-law, Susie Smith and husband John and Mary Jane Richards and husband Bruce; as well as several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

His brothers-in-law, Henry Wilson and John Snyder, preceded him in death.

He was last employed at CAT Walker Machinery, after retiring from Southern Ohio Coal; a graduate of Oak Hill High School, Class of 1966; and a Vietnam veteran, having served in the U.S. Army and awarded the Bronze Service Star.

Private funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, June 3, 2014 at the Trinity Chapel Church in Jackson, Ohio with Chaplain Pete Michael and Pastor Robert Jones officiating. Burial was to follow in Fairmount Cemetery, Jackson, Ohio.
