Thomas Arthur Brisker

Thomas Arthur Brisker, age 90, passed away Saturday, March 8, 2014. Tom was born in “east” Oak Hill June 23, 1923 to the late Lester and Mabel (Dunn) Brisker. He was a 1941 graduate of Oak Hill High School where he was active in all sports. After graduation he attended Rio Grande College, playing football and basketball. All his life he was interested in sports and especially Michigan football.

On July 4, 1945, he married Alice Taylor in Russell, Ky. Tom delivered bread in rural Lawrence County for the bakery, drove a school bus for Oak Hill Schools for 34 years, and owned and operated Tom’s Sunoco in Jackson from 1957 until retirement. He was a member of St. Paul United Methodist Church.

Surviving are daughters, Sue Brisker of Chillicothe, Ohio and Rebecca (Bill) May of Paris, Kentucky; granddaughters, Dr. Megan May of Houston, Texas and Kara Beth (Will) Atwood of Paris, Kentucky; and great-grandchildren, Jonah, Parker, Annie Elizabeth, Charlotte and David Atwood of Paris, Kentucky. Also surviving are many cousins, nephews, nieces, and friends.

Preceding him in death besides his parents were Alice, his wife of 68 years and his brother, Robert.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, March 11, 2014 at the Lewis & Gillum Funeral Home of Oak Hill with Rev. Pat King officiating. Burial will follow in C.M. Cemetery. Friends and family may call Tuesday from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the funeral home.
