James “Steve” Oney, age 69, of Jackson, Ohio, passed away Friday, February 28, 2014 at Adena Regional Medical Center. He was born February 4, 1945 to James and Helen (Davis) Oney.
Steve was a 1963 graduate of Jackson High School and worked in Georgia. He was an avid fan of racing and golfing.
He is survived by his mother, Helen Oney of Jackson, Ohio; the love of his life, Margaret Allen of Jackson, Ohio and her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren; stepdaughter, Kelly Newell of Wellston, Ohio; two aunts, Dorothy Herald of Athens, Ohio and Pat Willis of Jackson, Ohio; nieces, Kelly and Kerri; grand-nieces, Taya, Taryn, and Micah; and a faithful cousin, Robert Oney, of Ft. Meyers, Florida.
Preceding him in death was his father, James Oney; and two brothers, Danny and Bobby Oney.
A funeral service will be held at Lewis & Gillum Funeral Home of Jackson, Ohio on Wednesday, March 5, 2014 at 1 p.m. with Rev. Jack Hughes officiating. Burial will follow at Fairmount Cemetery.
