Dolly R. Cherrington

By | February 25, 2014

Dolly R. Cherrington, 85, was born on July 10, 1928 and went home to be with the Lord on February 25, 2014 at home, with her family beside her. Dolly was the daughter of Roland and Ethel Crace.

Dolly married her high school sweetheart, Paul Cherrington, on February 17, 1946. To this union was born five children, all of whom survive: Ervin (Nancy) Cherrington, Rose (Don) Walters, Rhonda (Gene) Gatrell, Jon (Beverly) Cherrington, and LuAnn (Bob) Campbell. Also surviving are 15 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; a sister, Opal Crabtree; and brother, Joe Crace; as well as many nieces and nephews.

Dolly was known affectionately as “Mammaw” by her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Her greatest gift to her family and friends was her witness of a Christian life and the values it instilled in her family; her love of Jesus shown throughout her life as a giving wife, mother, and friend. She believed in the strength of family, and provided a firm foundation based on the Word of God. Her love of the Lord inspired her faithfulness to her church throughout her life.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband; her parents; grandparents; grandson, Joel Walters, and great-grandson, Ethan Rodgers.

Dolly will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
