David J. “Duck” Watters II

David J. “Duck” Watters II, age 63, of Wellston, passed away Sunday, February 16, 2014, at the VA Hospice Facility in Dayton, Ohio. He was born January 27, 1951 in Hamden, Ohio.

David was truck driver and machinist, having been formerly employed at Austin Powder, Buckeye Automatic and Frick-Gallagher Manufacturing. He was a veteran of the United States Army who served during the Vietnam War. David was a member of the American Legion Post 371 of Wellston, the V.F.W. Post 9092 of Wellston and a lifetime member of the D.A.V. Jackson County Chapter 45, and he always enjoyed golfing.

David is survived by his mother, Barbara Walton of Wellston; his wife of 42 years, Karen Rowland Watters; children, David J. Watters III, Aaron S. Watters and Jenna Watters, all of Wellston; grandchildren, Alicia, Skyler and Aiden; brothers, John Watters, Frank Watters and Don Watters; sisters, Kathy McCoy, Judy Douglas and Janet Mangert, as well as several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

He was preceded in death by his father, David J. Watters, and his sister, Emily Jane Watters.

Calling hours will be Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the McWilliams Funeral Home in Wellston. Funeral service will be Thursday at 2 p.m. at the McWilliams Funeral Home with Pastor Andy Rawlins officiating. Burial will follow in the Ridgewood Cemetery with military honors by the D.A.V. Jackson County Chapter 45.
