Rosemary S. Mathews, age 84, of Oak Hill, Ohio passed away Wednesday, February 12, 2014 at Holzer Medical Center of Jackson, Ohio. She was born January 9, 1930 in Portsmouth, Ohio to the late Ralph and Pearl (Tolliver) Simpson.
Rosemary was a member of the Oak Hill Presbyterian Church and the Oak Hill Senior Citizen’s Center. She worked for many years at Fisher’s Big Wheel in Jackson, Ohio prior to her retirement.
She is survived by children, Jack (Karen) Mathews of Westerville, Ohio and Susan (Rick) Wisecup of Oak Hill, Ohio; grandchildren, Matthew Wisecup, Lauren (Derek) Herbruck, and Mark Mathews; great-granddaughters, Leah and Mckenna Herbruck; sister, Sylvia (John) Mason of Starr, SC; sister-in-law, Margie Simpson of Springfield, Ohio; nephew, Steffen (Patty) Simpson; nieces, Elenore (Tom) Berry, and Jonda Mason; as well as many other friends and relatives.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, James Mathews; a son, Greg Mathews; and brothers, George Simpson and Earl Simpson.
A funeral service will be held at the Lewis & Gillum Funeral Home of Oak Hill, Ohio on Saturday, February 15, 2014 at 1 p.m. with Rev. Stan Howard officiating. Burial will follow at C.M. Cemetery in Oak Hill, Ohio. Friends may call at the funeral home on Friday, February 14, 2014 from 4 to 6 p.m. or on Saturday, February 15, 2014 from 11-1 prior to the service.
