Fred D. Spurlock of Jackson, Ohio passed away Sunday, February 9, 2014 at Holzer Medical Center of Gallipolis, Ohio. Fred was born January 18, 1943 in Salyersville, Kentucky to Herbert and Lela May Spurlock who preceded him in death.
Fred is survived by his wife, Ruth (Coyan) Spurlock; a son, Doug (Linda) Spurlock of Kissimmee, Florida; and two daughters, Mary Ann (J.R.) Rowe of Salyersville, Kentucky and Donnah Ousley of Lexington, Kentucky. He also leaves one step-son, John Malone; two step-daughters, Kim (Wayne) Skaggs and Megan Malone, all of Jackson, Ohio. Fred will be sadly missed by 14 grandchildren; grandsons, Shane and Alex Howard, Joshua (Heather) Skaggs, Justin and Wesley Skaggs, Zach Thornsberry and Lijah Zornes; and granddaughters, Bailey and Logan Spurlock, Madeline and Leah Ousley, Audrey Copher, Maggie (Terry) Mayle, and Sara Malone. Fred is also survived by two great-grandsons, Gage Mayle and Evan Skaggs; one brother, Myles (Lila) Spurlock of Decatur, Alabama; three brothers-in-law, Jack (Glenna) Coyan, Paul Coyan, and Stew Brenneman, all of Jackson, Ohio; and one sister-in-law, Hester Lenegar, also of Jackson, Ohio.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his step-father, Ed Cooper.
A funeral service will be held on Thursday, February 13, 2014 at 11 a.m. with Rev. Terry Cavanaugh officiating at Lewis & Gillum Funeral Home of Jackson, Ohio. Friends may call on Wednesday, February 12, 2014 from 4 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
