Donna Damron Spriggs, age 81, formerly of Oak Hill and Columbus, passed away at her residence in Florence, SC on Saturday, September 28, 2013. Donna was born February 29, 1932 in Oak Hill, to the late George Damron and Emma (Miller) Damron. Donna was a 1952 graduate of Oak Hill High School and worked at Children’s Hospital, in Columbus, for 40 years before retiring.
Donna is survived by three sisters, Judge Charlene (Tom) Hewitt of Florence, SC, Freida Garland, of Crescent City, FL, and Dellia Yerby of Russellville, AL; seven nephews, Michael Hewitt, Steven Hewitt, Randy Yerby, Richard Yerby, Craig Carter, Jay Damron, and Jeff Keith; three nieces, Lisa Garland, Joy Damron, and Heather Dye; and special friends Rosie Gibson and Brenda Dameron.
Donna was preceded in death by her parents, George and Emma Damron; her husband, Charles Spriggs; two brothers, Vernon Damron and Jerry Damron; and one nephew; David Garland.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Lewis and Gillum Funeral home of Oak Hill. A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, October 1, 2013 at 11 a.m. at Horeb Cemetery.
