Ryan Neal Potter

Ryan Neal Potter, 38, Oak Hill, passed away unexpectedly July 20, 2013, at Cabell-Huntington Hospital, Huntington, WV.

He was born May 2, 1975, in Gallipolis, Ohio to Ivan and Carol (Canter) Potter, who survive. He is also survived by a brother, Brandon Potter of Oak Hill. He is also survived by two nephews, Eli and Evan Potter that he loved like they were his own; grandmother, Janice Potter; and aunts and uncles Joan and Lisle Dill, Cindy and Jack Adkins, Jerry Canter, Allen and Connie Potter, Clyde and Ruthie Potter, Diana and Jim Sims, Greg and Carla Potter, Carol Potter, all from Oak Hill, and Rhonda and Danny Butler of Jackson; several first cousins: Stephanie Schulte, Marcia Schaefer, Kenny Canter, Scott Canter, Valerie Hubbard, Amy Potter, Allen Potter, Jr., Kim Kidd, Paula McClary, Jared Potter, Jordan Potter, Grant Lloyd, Bradley Potter, Carley Potter, Taylor Butler, and Breanna Butler; great-aunts and uncles Joyce Potter, James and Sue Tolliver, and Bob and Mary Swann; very special and close friends Andrea and Jeff Heft; special sister-in-law of 11 years, Becky Adkins Snyder; several additional cousins and a host of close friends.

He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Evelene and Jim Canter and paternal grandfather, Owen Potter.

Ryan was a 1993 graduate of Oak Hill High School and attended Hocking Technical College. He was the administrator for Jackson County Soil and Water Conservation District. He was a member of Portland Lodge 366 and served as a Past Master. He enjoyed working as a disk jockey, fondly known as P-Funk; was an avid fan of the Lady Oaks and Wheeling Jesuit Cardinals basketball teams, and loved attending and camping at dirt track races. He loved children, especially his nephews Eli and Evan, and lived life to the fullest.

Friends may call at Lewis-Gillum Funeral Home in Oak Hill on Wednesday, July 24 from 2 to 7:30 p.m. and one hour prior to the funeral services, which will be held on Thursday July 25, 2012 at 1 p.m. Pastor Bob Jones will officiate. Burial and interment will be at CM Cemetery. A Masonic service will be conducted on Wednesday, July 24 at 7:30 p.m.
