Merle F. Carter

Merle F. Carter, age 72, of Oak Hill, Ohio passed away Monday July 15, 2013 at the Holzer Medical Center in Jackson. He was born in Oak Hill on June 11, 1941 to the late Floyd and Golda (Reed) Carter. He was united in marriage to Phyllis (Crabtree) Carter on June 30, 1962. Merle retired from the Jackson Plastics Corp. in Jackson Ohio.

Merle is survived by his daughter, Tammy (Jim) George; grandsons, Mason and Garrison George, all of Ewington, Ohio, and Evan and Eli Carter, of Oak Hill; brothers, Melvin (Wilmena) Carter, of Vinton, Ohio, Cecil (Shirley) Carter, Alan (Faye) Carter, both of Oak Hill, Forest (Mary) Carter, of Columbus; sisters, Rosemary (Roger) Kozma and Betty (Butch) Williams, of Oak Hill. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Merle is preceded in death by his wife, Phyllis Carter; son, Michael Carter; infant daughter, Michelle Carter; daughter-in-law, Tina Carter; and brothers, Gerald Carter and Fred Carter.

A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, July 19, 2013 at the Lewis & Gillum Funeral Home in Oak Hill with Pastor Stan Howard officiating. Burial will follow in C.M. Cemetery.
