Jim Sherwood

James “Jim” Sherwood, age 76, of Wellston, passed away unexpectedly Tuesday, July 9, 2013, at the Holzer Medical Center in Gallipolis, Ohio. He was born June 27, 1937 in Wellston, Ohio, the son of the late Luther Robert Sherwood and Opal Charlene Burton Sherwood.

Jim retired from Frick-Gallagher Manufacturing in Wellston where he worked for over 40 years. He was a member and twice past Master of the Black Diamond Lodge #538 F&AM and he formerly attended the Trinity United Methodist Church in Wellston. Jim enjoyed hunting, golfing and fishing and he was an excellent carpenter.

He is survived by his wife, Shirlene Breeze Davis Sherwood; son, Mark Sherwood of Wellston; grandsons, Joshua Sherwood of Jackson and Nathan (Lacey) Sherwood of Jackson; sister, Rita Gray of Wellston; step-daughters, Rhonda (Gary) Everett of Jackson and Brenda (Brian) Ballis of Piketon; step-grandchildren, Jennifer (Matt) Hatten of Jackson, Gavin (Beth) Everett of Jackson, Brenton Ballis (Chelsey) of Kingston and Brooke Ballis of Piketon; step great-great-grandchildren, Maddox Hatten and Caibree Ballis; and a brother-in-law, Bill DeVol of Colorado.

Besides his parents, Jim was preceded in death by his first wife, Louise DeVol Sherwood.

Calling hours will be Friday from 4 to 8 p.m. at the McWilliams Funeral Home in Wellston. Funeral services will be Saturday at 1 p.m. at the McWilliams Funeral Home. Burial will follow in the Ridgewood Cemetery. Online condolences may be sent to the family at www.mcwilliams-funeralhome.com.
