Reverend Kenneth Earl Libby

Kenneth Libby, 80, of Wellston, was called from this life Monday, June 17, 2013, at the O.S.U. Wexner Medical Center. The son of the late Ernest Arthur and Vivian Regina Wykle Libby, he was born August 25, 1932, in Jackson County. Ken was a 1951 graduate of Wellston High School and received his B.S. from Rio Grande College in 1964. He served his country in the Army during the Korean Conflict, was a high school teacher and an engineer for the General Telephone Company.

Reverend Kenneth Libby was saved May 6, 1944, at the Buckeye Furnace Church and was baptized near there in Raccoon Creek. He was called to preach in 1951 and delivered his first message in France. He was sanctified in 1956 at a tent meeting at Columbus. Ken pastored five churches in the E.U.B. denomination and in 1958 he moved his membership to the Church of Christ in Christian Union where he pastored a total of ten churches. For several years, Reverend Libby served as an evangelist.

On November 21, 1956, Ken married Betty Molihan who survives along with their children David (Kathy) and Elizabeth (Jamie) Bellomy. Also surviving are grandchildren, Shaun (Melissa) Libby, Elizabeth (Matthew) Thomas and Laurel Bellomy; great-grandchildren, Aubrey Thomas, Baylee Thomas, and Jason Libby; brothers, Melvin (Martha) of Hamden, William (Kay) of Wellston and Tom (Bonnie) of Oak Hill; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins; and his good friend, Rebecca Maloy.

The Libby family will be accepting callers Thursday from 2 to 4 p.m. and from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Huntley & Cremeens Funeral Home of Wellston. A funeral service, officiated by Dr. Thomas Hermiz and Rev. Robert Jones, will be conducted Friday at 1 p.m. at the Trinity Chapel near Jackson. Salem Cemetery will serve as a final resting place. Arrangements for Reverend Libby have been entrusted to the Huntley & Cremeens Funeral Home.
