David G. Stiffler, Sr.

David G. Stiffler, Sr., 76, of Wilkesville, Ohio, passed away Thursday, May 2, 2013 at Jenkins Memorial Health Facility in Wellston after a battle with Alzheimer’s. He was born on March 9, 1937 in Jackson, Ohio. Son of the late Lloyd W. And Eyota I. (Statton) Stiffler.

He was a retired coal miner from Southern Ohio Coal Company Meigs Mine #1. And was a member of W.M.W.A. Union Local 1857. He loved to hunt, mushroom hunt, and work with his cows on the farm.

David is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Ann (John) Stiffler Wood, and a son David Stiffler, Jr., Two granddaughters, Brittany Ann (Jamie) Wood Prowse and Brooke Ashley Wood, all of Wilkesville, Ohio. Two brothers, Herman Stiffler and Floyd (Janie) Stiffler, of Jackson, Ohio. Three sisters, Yvonne VanScoyoc of Mansfield, Margaret Smith of Coalton and Mary (Lew) Frisby of Coalton. Brother-in-laws, Raymond (Jaree) Stapleton, Tony (Jo) Adkins, Don (Edith) Doles, and Mother-in-law Lucy Maynard all of Wilkesville, and many nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 30 years, Barbara Lee (Maynard) Stiffler. Brothers Larry, Cliff, Carlos, Gaston, Bill and Gene Stiffler, and sisters Juanita Gilliland, Melinda Montgomery, and Alice Gilliland.

Visitation will be on Sunday, May 5, 2013 at the McCoy-Moore Funeral Home in Vinton, Ohio from 3 p.m. — 6 p.m. with Church Services to start at 6 p.m. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Monday, May 6, 2013 at Little Pearl Church in Vinton, Ohio with brothers Raymond Stapleton, Don Lawson, and Greg Sowers officiating. Burial will follow in the Marcum Memorial Cemetery in Wilkesville, Ohio.
