Wanda Palmer Angel passed away peacefully on April 29, 2013, at the Claiborne-Hughes Nursing Facility in Franklin, Tenn., where she had resided for the past four months.

Wanda grew up in Jackson, graduating from Jackson High School in 1947, the valedictorian of her class. She was a member of the Jackson Christian Church, Jackson Women’s League and several bridge clubs.

In 1957 Wanda moved to Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., where she worked as office manager for Dale Allen Stores in upscale clothing. She was an active member of Parkway Christian Church in Ft. Lauderdale.

On August 15, 1969, her husband was killed in a plane crash while they were living temporarily in Vientiane, Laos. Wanda returned to Jackson, where she and her sister established the Pot Pourri gift shop and travel agency.

In May, 2008, Wanda was the victim of a fall that left her with injuries requiring 24-hour care. She then moved to her new home in Franklin, Tenn., to be near her son.

Friends will remember Wanda for her zest for living, and her love of music, books, bridge, friends and God.

Her ashes will be buried at sea in Ft. Lauderdale, as were her late husband’s. A memorial service will be held in Jackson in the summer, with the date to be announced.
