Edsel Franklin Johnson, age 79, of Oak Hill, Ohio passed away Monday, April 29, 2013, at his home. He was born March 29, 1934, in West Virginia, the son of the late Garrett and Mary (Hess) Johnson. He worked road construction most of his life. After being disabled, he enjoyed fishing, shooting matches and playing the lottery. He enjoyed being around his friends and family.

Edsel is survived by children, Bobby Johnson, Donna Smith and Linda Brown, all of Oak Hill, and Roger (Wanda) Johnson of Columbus, Ohio; grandchildren, Tina Johnson, Misti (Mike) Goody, Scott (Crystal) Brown, Jeremy (Hilary) Johnson, Tiffany Johnson, Mary (Jake) Grubbs, Wendy Gratc, Carey (Tommy) Moomey, Sara Flint, and Brittany (Mike) McMahon; great-grandchildren, Kayla, Shawna and Deron Goody, Trinity, Reegan and Linkon Brown, Brooke, Bryleigh and Brice Johnson, Carson Matney, Tucker Grubbs and Amiley McMahon; as well as several nieces and nephews.

Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Johnson; a son, Gary Johnson; two brothers, James Johnson and Clyde Johnson; two sisters, Nellie Rittenhouse and Eva Dyer.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, May 2 at the Lewis & Gillum Funeral Home in Oak Hill. Burial will follow at C.M. Cemetery in Oak Hill. Friends may call from 4 p.m.- 8 p.m. on Wednesday, May 1, at the funeral home.
