Mona Lea Huffman

Mona Lea Huffman, 83, of Lancaster, Ohio passed away on Sunday, March 10, 2013. She was born on February 10, 1930, in Coalton, Ohio to the late Margaret Mae (Farmer) Griffith and Daniel Edgar Griffith of Coalton.

Mona worked for three years at the Aerosol Plant in Wellston and she worked 15 years at the Austin Powder Plant in McArthur, where she retired in 1986.

Mona was preceded in death by seven sisters, Ida Bolton of Hamden, Ohio, Lucille Arledge of Columbus, Ohio, Remola Newman of Columbus, Martha Brewer of Columbus, Ruth Matthews of Jackson, Ohio, Marcella Standford of Columbus, and Lula Ayers of Wellston, Ohio; and five brothers, Arthur Griffith of Coalton, Robert Griffith, Millard Griffith of Columbus, Harold Griffith of Columbus, and Floyd Griffith.

Mona is survived by her husband, Donald Wayne Huffman; his daughter, Paulette (Dave) Smith of Kalamazoo, Michigan; and grandsons, Rick, Jason, and Joshua; brother, Virgil Griffith of Jackson, Ohio; son, Dana K. (Janie) Smith of Wellston; and daughter, Joan D. (John) Hager of Amanda, Ohio. Grandchildren include: Kim, Dana, Shannon, and Jeffery Smith, Jodie Hildenbrand, Jenny Lusher, Jonathan Rice, and Debbie Plantz-Ashby; plus several wonderful great-grandchildren.

Mona loved reading the Bible.

Funeral service for Mona will be held at 12 p.m. Wednesday at the Frank E. Smith Funeral Home, 405 N. Columbus St., Lancaster with Pastor Chris Hildenbrand officiating. Burial will follow at 2:30 p.m. in Greenlawn Memory Gardens, Coalton. Family and friends may visit Wednesday from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the funeral home.
