Eldon E. “Junior” Sowers, age 62, of Wellston, passed away Friday, Jan. 11, 2013, at the Holzer Medical Center in Gallipolis, Ohio. He was born October 3, 1950 in Jackson County, Ohio to Eldon Earl Sowers, Sr. and Pauline Knox Fain. Junior was a former coal miner having worked for Meigs Mine #3 and he attended the Holiness House of Prayer. He is survived by his mother, Pauline Fain of Gallipolis; daughter, Vanessa Metzler of Wellston; grandchildren, Kayla Snavely, Brittany Dyke and Joshua Dyke; brothers, Gary (Nancy) Sowers of Columbus and Milan Fain of Gallipolis; sister, Jean “Sis” (Robert) Sandlin of Gallipolis, as well as several nieces and nephews, including niece, Hollee Castor, cousins and friends. Junior was preceded in death by his father, Ralph Fain, and his brothers, Dwaine Fain and William Sowers.
Calling hours will be Monday from 2 to 8 p.m. at the McWilliams Funeral Home in Wellston. Funeral services will be Tuesday at 1 p.m. at the McWilliams Funeral Home with Pastor Rob Ervin officiating. Burial will follow in the Hamden Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate contributions be given to the McWilliams Funeral Home to help with funeral expenses.
