James W. “Jim” Ervin III

James W. “Jim” Ervin III, age 65, of Wellston, passed away Saturday, January 12, 2013, at the Ohio State University Medical Center in Columbus, Ohio. He was born July 17, 1947 in Wellston, Ohio, the son of the late James W. Ervin, Jr. and Jean Johnson Ervin.

Jim was a 1965 graduate of Wellston High School. Following over 30 years of service, he retired from the Piketon Uranium Enrichment Plant where he worked as a construction manager. Jim was a faithful and dedicated member of the First Baptist Church in Wellston where he was a Deacon and served on various other boards of the church. He enjoyed working on and restoring cars as well as attending the many activities that his grandchildren were involved with.

Jim is survived by his wife of 43 years, Marsha Speakman Ervin; daughter and son-in-law, Kelly and Chad McKnight of Vienna, W. Va.; three grandchildren, Wes, Tori and Jacob McKnight; three sisters, Donna (Bill) Leasure of Dayton, Eila (Frank) Eberts of Wellston and Bobbi (Jeff) Simmons of McArthur; his mother-in-law, Jeanette Kiefer of Jackson, as well as several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Calling hours will be Tuesday from 5 to 9 p.m. at the McWilliams Funeral Home in Wellston. Funeral services will be Wednesday at 1 p.m. at the McWilliams Funeral Home with Pastor Dave Kelly officiating. Burial will be in the Ridgewood Cemetery.
