Frances M. Davis

Frances M. Davis, age 92, of Wellston, passed away Thursday morning, October 25, 2012, at the Edgewood Manor of Wellston. She was born March 7, 1920 in Oak Hill, Ohio, the daughter of the late Homer and Nellie Richards Thompson.

Frances was a 1938 graduate of Jackson High School. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and homemaker and was a former employee of Stiffler’s Department Store in Wellston. Frances was a member and secretary of the former Wills Chapel Church in Wellston for several years.

She is survived by her children, June Elaine (Charles) Steger of Vandalia, Mary Ellen (Ted) Wooten of Bidwell, Carol Joy (Bruce) Webb of Wellston, Deborah Ann Swingle of Albany and Evan John (Andrea) Davis of Jackson; brothers, Dwight (Barbara) Thompson of Dayton and Glen (Freda) Thompson of Xenia; sister, Donna Reeder of Dayton; sisters-in-law, Alma Lavender of Cincinnati and Ruth Davis of Richmond, Va., as well as several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Besides her parents, Frances was preceded in death by her husband of 67 years, Carl Harding Davis in 2007; brothers, Willard Thompson, Homer Thompson, Jr., Orville Thompson and Neil Thompson and sisters, Marinelle Thompson and Connie Thompson.

Calling hours will be Sunday from 4 to 8 p.m. at the McWilliams Funeral Home in Wellston. Funeral services will be Monday at 1 p.m. at the McWilliams Funeral Home with Pastor Rob Ervin officiating.
