Robert L. Heading

Robert L. “Bob” Heading, age 84, of Wellston, passed away Saturday, August 11, 2012, at the Riverside Hospital in Columbus, Ohio. He was born December 11, 1927 in Jackson County, Ohio, the son of the late William “Bill” Heading and Mayme Sams Heading.

Bob was a 1945 graduate of Wellston High School and was a veteran of the United States Navy. He was a former employee of the B&O Railroad, where he worked as a carpenter boss. Bob enjoyed fishing, camping and doing carpentry work.

He is survived by four children, Marian Sorrell of Wellston, Jim Wilbur (Terri) of Wellston, Nadene Owsley (Darrell) of McArthur and Earlene McManus of Circleville; former daughter-in-law, Debbie Wilbur Norton of Wellston, as well as 14 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents, Bob was preceded in death by his wife, Wylodean Brown Heading; daughter, Karen Wilbur Childers; son, Steve Wilbur; and brothers, Gerald Heading and William “Bill” Heading.

Calling hours will be Tuesday from 2 to 8 p.m. at the McWilliams Funeral Home in Wellston. Funeral services will be Wednesday at 1 p.m. at the McWilliams Funeral Home with Rev. Chuck Stansberry officiating. Burial will follow in the Ridgewood Cemetery with military honors by the American Legion Post 371 of Wellston.
