Ernestine Gettles

Ernestine Gettles, age 93, of Wellston, passed away Tuesday morning, July 10, 2012, at her home. She was born November 4, 1918 in Jackson, Ohio, the daughter of the late Luther and Emma McGhee Miller.

Ernestine was a 1936 graduate of Jackson High School. She was a former employee of Ervin’s Hardware in Jackson and Ralston Purina/Banquet Foods. Ernestine was a dedicated volunteer at My Brother’s Place in Wellston for over 15 years. She was an active and faithful member of the Hope United Methodist Church, where she was a member of the Wibbler Class and the United Methodist Women.

Ernestine is survived by son, Ronald Gettles of Wellston; daughter and son-in-law, Melinda and Rusty McFadden of Wellston; two grandsons, Ryan (Teresa) McFadden of Wellston and Reed McFadden of Wellston; great-granddaughter, Milynna McFadden; sister, Roberta Ellison of Jackson; special loved ones, Summer, Destiney and Gage, as well as several nieces and nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Homer D. “Buck” Gettles in 1993; two brothers, Avery Miller and Adyron Miller and two sisters, Lucille Baker and Helen Crabtree.

Calling hours will be Thursday from 4 to 8 p.m. at the McWilliams Funeral Home in Wellston. Funeral services will be Friday at 1 p.m. at the McWilliams Funeral Home with Pastor Steve Mathews officiating. Burial will follow in the Ridgewood Cemetery.
