Denny F. Bland

Denny F. Bland, age 68, of Wellston, passed away Monday, June 18, 2012, at the Holzer Medical Center in Gallipolis, Ohio. He was born May 29, 1944 in Columbus, Ohio. Denny was a veteran of the United States Army, having served during the Vietnam War. He was a self-employed maintenance man and was a member of the American Legion Post 371 of Wellston, the V.F.W. Post 9092 of Wellston and the AmVets.

He is survived by his mother and step-father, Helen Louise Steinbrook DeMers and Gene DeMers of McArthur; father, Arthur Douglas Bland, Sr. of Columbus; sons, Shawn Patrick Bland of San Diego, California, Kelly Gene Bland of Canton and Denny Harold Bland of Arizona; daughter, Adona Kay Bland of Arizona; brothers, Barney Bland of Youngstown and Doug DeMers of Baton Rouge, Louisiana; as well as several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara.

At Denny’s request, his body was cremated. A memorial service will be held Sunday at 3 p.m. at the McWilliams Funeral Home in Wellston with Will Gillum and Barney Bland officiating. Friends may call at the funeral home from 1 to 3 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family would greatly appreciate memorial contributions be given in Denny’s name to the Lazydog Lodge, 1176 Tickridge Road, Vinton, Ohio 45686.
