Sallie L. Nixon Barbey

Sallie L. Nixon Barbey, age 90, of McArthur, passed away Wednesday, May 23, 2012, at the Kindred Transitional Care Facility in Logan. She was born March 9, 1922 in Vales Mills, OH, the daughter of the late Audney and Mary Bowen Nixon.

Sallie was a graduate of Vinton Township Rural High School. Following graduation, she became an administrative assistant and went to Columbus to work at General Motors and then later worked at the Kent State University.

Sallie is survived by niece, Dorothy Weyand Radcliff of Logan; nephews, Raymond Weyand of Lancaster and Ronnie Lee Nixon of Columbus, as well as several great-nieces and great-nephews.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Vaughn C. Barbey in 1996, and her siblings, Farrell, Freda, Maude and Ronald.

Sallie’s family would like to thank a special neighbor, Rose, for her extended friendship and assistance over the years.

At Sallie’s request, cremation has taken place and there will be no services. Burial will be beside her husband in Bowen Cemetery at the convenience of the family.

In lieu of flowers, the family would greatly appreciate memorial contributions be given, in Sallie’s name, to your local Humane Society or Hospice.
