Paul “Ed” Rice

Paul “Ed” Rice, 68, of Wellston, passed away on Sunday, April 15, 2012, at Holzer Medical Center-Jackson ER. He was born in Wellston on June 1, 1943, son of the late Charles F. Rice Sr. and Helen Loudermilk Rice.

He was a graduate of Wellston High School and a member of the U.S. Marines. He retired from McNally Pittsburg in Wellston following 18 years of employment. He was the owner of the former Pizza Peddler and Ed’s Cab Service in Wellston. He was an avid bingo player and enjoyed attending flea markets. He was a member of American Legion Post #371 of Wellston and attended the Hamden Community Church, formerly the Hamden Nazarene Church.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Marlyn Rice, in 2000; a son, Mike; three brothers, James, Larry, and Charles “Bugs” Rice Jr.; a sister, Sondra Will; and five grandchildren, Deanna West, Melinda and Melissa Mulhern, Brittany Rice, and Jamie West.

Surviving are three sons, Paul (Leslie) Rice of Wellston; Paul Edward Rice II (Peggy) of Wellston; and Charles Rick Rice of Jackson.

Two daughters, Robin (Bill) Mulhern of McArthur and Karma Caster of McArthur. Two sisters, Sharon Caudill of McArthur and Cheryl (Tom) Gallagher of Jackson. Also 15 grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild, nieces, nephews, and a special nephew, Blaine Gallagher of Jackson.

Friends may call at the Jenkins Funeral Chapel in Wellston on Thursday from 5 until 8 p.m. “Ed” requested no services and that cremation follow his visitation. His final place of rest will be in the Byer Cemetery at a later date.
