Phillip Keith Buffington, age 79, of Wellston, passed away Tuesday, December 21, 2021, at Ayden Healthcare of Jackson. He was born January 1, 1942, in Glenroy, Ohio, son of the late Phillip Frank Buffington and Elma Jewell Shope Buffington. Keith graduated from Coalton High School with the class of 1960. He retired from Frick-Gallagher Manufacturing in Wellston, where he was employed for 44 years. Following his retirement from Frick-Gallagher, he was employed at Meridian in Jackson. Keith was known as one of the Wellston Golden Rockets football team’s #1 fans, who always looked forward to attending or watching the Friday night games. He was also an avid fan of The Ohio State Buckeyes and NASCAR. Another favorite pastime of Keith’s was that he enjoyed raising chickens and pigeons.
Keith is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Renee and Chris Anderson of Wellston; daughters-in-law: Sherry Buffington of Wellston and Rosie Buffington of Wellston; grandchildren: Kris Buffington of Wellston, Phillip Buffington of Athens, Tiffany Vickers of Jackson, Tasha Vickers of Wellston and Shanna Smith of Missouri; as well as eight great-grandchildren. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Jeanne Tipton Buffington in 2010; sons: Randy Buffington and Rick Buffington; and siblings: Don, Bernice, Jr. and Clayton.
In keeping with Keith’s request, his body will be cremated. Burial will be at the convenience of the family in Glenroy Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate contributions in Keith’s memory be given to the Big W Club, P.O. Box 489, Wellston, Ohio 45692.
