Virginia M. Baker

Virginia M. Baker, age 88, of Vinton, passed away Thursday, September 20, 2012, at the Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus, Ohio. She was born April 16, 1924 in London, Ohio, the daughter of the late Forest Sheets and Madge Miller Sheets.

Virginia was a homemaker. She was a devoted Christian who was active in many churches and church organizations throughout her life. Because of the determination of a close neighbor friend inviting a little girl to church, Virginia’s Christian life started as a young lady.

She is survived by her daughter, Virginia Melissa Stinnett (David) of Vinton; her son, John Paul Dawson (Sharon) of Pataskala; grandchildren, Tricia Dawson, Tina Barker, Timothy Dawson and Adam Reed; brothers, William Sheets of Mt. Gilead, Lawrence Sheets of Grove City and Bernard Sheets of Mt. Gilead; sisters, Elizabeth Hiser of Mt. Gilead and Trudie Anderson of Baltimore, Oh., as well as five great-grandchildren, several nieces, nephews, good neighbors, friends and her beloved pets.

Besides her parents, Virginia was preceded in death by her first husband, the Reverend Karl Henry Dawson; her second husband, Arnold Clay Baker and four brothers and one sister.

Calling hours will be Sunday from 2 to 6 p.m. at the McWilliams Funeral Home in Wellston. Graveside services will be held Monday at 1:30 p.m. at the Paint Township Cemetery in London, Oh. with Pastor Jim Griffith officiating.
