Karen Lynn Christner

Karen Lynn Christner, 62, of Columbus, following an extended illness, passed away on Monday afternoon, July 9, 2018, at OSU Wexner Medical Center in Columbus, Ohio. She was born in Wellston, Ohio, August 5, 1955, and was preceded in death by her father, Oron Lee Christner, in 1963, and her mother, Elma Griffith Christner Tucker, in 2012. She was the last of her immediate family, having been preceded in death by her sister, Pamela Christner, in 1996, and her step father, Herbert R. Tucker, in 1996.

Karen grew up in Wellston at her family’s home on West Broadway and attended Harvey Wells School. She was a 1973 graduate of Wellston High School and a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Wellston. She later moved to Columbus where she was employed as a medical coder, working from her home. In her spare time she enjoyed crocheting and collecting Precious Moments figurines.

She is survived by her uncle, Ervin Griffith, of Hillsboro, Ohio, and her two aunts, Elsie Purcell, of Hillsboro, and Edna Willett of North Carolina; fifteen cousins including Rebecca E. Hoffman of Rushsylvania, Ohio, and Eric Purcell of Hillsboro; close family friend, Shirley Rogers, of Wellston; and all of her friends in Columbus. Friends may call at the Jenkins Funeral Chapel in Wellston on Saturday, July 21, from 11:30 A.M. until 12:30 P.M. A graveside service will follow at 1:00 P.M. at the Ridgewood Cemetery in Wellston, Ohio, officiated by John Pelletier CLP.
