William D. “Bill” Whiting

William D. “Bill” Whiting, age 70, of Jackson, passed away Tuesday, August 6, 2013, at his home. He was born December 23, 1942 in Wellston, Ohio to the late William R. Whiting and Nelvie A. Radcliff Whiting. Bill was a former truck driver, having retired from Consolidated Freight, and was also a former employee of Yellow Freight and Ohio Delivery. He attended the Jackson Baptist Temple and was an avid bowler, hunter and fisherman.

Bill is survived by his wife of 48 years, Irene West Whiting; children, Diana Lynn (Bob) Greene of Sanford, Fla., Michael Joseph (Denise) Moeller of Pleasantville, Oh., Mark Alan Whiting of Pickerington and Melissa Darlene (Patrick) McCart of Ashville; 10 grandchildren, Joshua Greene, Amanda Greene, Brodi Moeller, Christopher Garbedian, Lisa Garbedian, Shawn McCart, Ashley Whiting, Brittany Whiting, Brandin Moeller and Connor McCart; two great-grandchildren, Jaxon Thomas and Hailey Moeller; sisters, Margie (Dave) Henry Sprague of Wellston and Carolyn Jean Tipton of Columbus, as well as several nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Rob Whiting; grandson, Jacob McCart; sister, Juanita Hall, and brother, Carl “Bud” Whiting.

Calling hours will be Friday from 5 to 8 p.m. at the McWilliams Funeral Home in Wellston. Funeral service will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at the McWilliams Funeral Home with Pastor Allen Gibson officiating. Burial will follow in the Ridgewood Cemetery.
