Susan Will

Susan Will, 80, of Hamden, was called from this life Wednesday, April 17, 2013, at the Four Winds Nursing Facility. The daughter of the late Adrian and Hazel Stevens Phillips, she was born July 9, 1932, at Wellston.

Susan was a graduate of Hamden High School, Holzer School of Nursing, Ohio University where she received her BSN, and the University of Dayton for her MEd. She served Vinton County as a health nurse for eight years and then moved to Wellston City Schools where she was the school nurse for 22 years. She had attended the Hamden United Methodist Church and she was a member of the Sereno Chapter of the Eastern Star at McArthur, Delta Kappa Gamma, Ohio Association of School Nurses, American Association of University Women and the Ohio Retired Teachers Association. Susan was named as the Ohio School Nurse of the Year in 1987.

On August 7, 1954, Susan married Samuel Will at Rushville, Indiana, and he survives along with their children, Joseph (Terry) of Wellston, John (Glena) of Madison, WV, and Joyce (Bob) Mulligan of Little Hocking. Also surviving are grandchildren, Brandie Styron and her husband Joe who are awaiting the birth of their daughter, Gabriella, Susan, Heidi Thorne, Andy, Wesley and Sean; great-grandchildren, Aiden and Ansen; her sisters, Dianne Hawley of Shade, Carolyn Surface of Marietta and Jeanette (Jim) Wildermuth of West Jefferson; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins; and her good friends, Rita Hartley and Bobbi Wolfe.

Susan was preceded in death by Joyce’s twin sister, Joan Beth who passed soon after birth.

Family and friends will gather Friday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. at the Huntley and Cremeens Funeral Home of Wellston, where an Eastern Star service will be conducted at the conclusion of calling. The funeral service will be Saturday at 1 p.m. and burial will follow in the Hamden Cemetery.
