Ronald Eugene Ray, fondly known as “Ron,” departed this life to external rest on Wednesday May 5, 2021 at Holzer Medical Center, Jackson, Ohio.

He was born May 6, 1966 in Oak Hill, Ohio to Linda S. Ray and the late Arthur Phillip Ray.

He was a graduate from Jackson High School in 1984, where he fostered many lifelong friendships.

After graduation, Ron served our great country in the United States Army and was stationed in Alaska as a truck driver, where he endured many a cold day and night.  Returning from the military, he became a Corrections Officer at the Ross Correctional Institute, Chillicothe, Ohio, and later in Florida.  Leaving Corrections, he became a truck driver for several companies, traveling from coast to coast with long hauls. His most recent job was as a CDL truck driver for Carrington Logistics in Ashland, VA. He was also an avid Cincinnati Bengals fan!

He is survived by his loving mother Linda S. Ray; brother Damon (Valerie) Ray; niece Hilary Ray; special friend, Alison Opheim; stepsons, Lance (Crystal) Atkins and Jon Atkins; and step-grandchildren, Maddie and Caison Atkins.

He is also survived by aunts, uncles, cousins, and many friends.

Ron’s contagious & fun-loving spirit will live on in so many stories and in so many hearts.

Funeral services were held under the direction of the Mayhew-Brown Funeral Home.
