Robert (Bob) Whitt

Robert “Bob” D. Whitt, 90, of Jackson, passed away on Saturday, July 3, 2021, at Adena Regional Medical Center in Chillicothe.

Bob was born on March 9, 1931, in Pike County, Kentucky, son of the late Claude and Hazel (Hamilton) Whitt. A veteran of the United States Army and National Guard, Bob proudly served his country. He retired from the Atomic Plant in Piketon after 37 years of service. Upon his retirement, Bob stayed active by starting and leading a “benevolence group” always being sure to tend to the needs of other retirees and their spouses. He enjoyed gardening, coon hunting, reading, and college sports, especially basketball. He will be greatly missed.

He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Wanda Whitt; children: Steve (Robin) Whitt, Vicki Pelfrey, Billy (Stephanie) Craft, and Kimberley (Mark) Crabtree; nine grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; brother Jack (Alma) Whitt; as well as several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Bob was preceded in death by his sister, Mary Buchanan.

A funeral service celebrating Bob’s life will be held on Thursday, July 8, 2021, at 1 p.m., in the chapel of R.M. Williams Funeral Service, Wellston. Burial will follow in Bethel Ridge Cemetery, Jackson.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday, July 7, 2021, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.
