Rita M. Ferris, age 68, went to be with the Lord Saturday, January 19, 2013. She was married to the late Ron Ferris. She was born in McArthur, OH to the late Robert Seitz and Norma Jean Seitz. Rita was a retired STNA from Jenkins Nursing Home in Wellston, OH. She is also a member of the Moose Lodge and VFW.
Rita is survived by daughter, Monica (Nick) Shurmantine of Grain Valley, MO; step-son, Mike Ferris of Jackson; step-daughter, Cherie Birge of North Carolina; one grandson, Ayden Shurmantine of Grand Rapid, MO; two step-grandsons, Shane Michael Ferris of Jackson and Corey Garis of Virginia; and two step-granddaughters, Janice Garis of Norfolk, VA and Courtney Garis of North Carolina.
Along with her husband and father, Rita was preceded in death by a sister, Wanda Scurlock.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, January 23, 2013 at the Lewis-Gillum Funeral Home in Jackson, OH with Rev. James McFadden officiating. Burial will follow at Fairmount Cemetery in Jackson, OH. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, January 22, 2013 at the funeral home.
