Phyllis M. Sims

Phyllis M. Sims, age 91, of Wellston, passed away Tuesday, May 17, 2022, at Edgewood Manor in Wellston. She was born October 18, 1930, in Wellston, Ohio, daughter of the late Howard F. Collins and Opal I. Scott Collins.

Phyllis was a 1948 graduate of Wellston High School. She was a homemaker who enjoyed starting off her days by talking to her family. She also loved to read and enjoyed being on her computer. In earlier years, Phyllis attended the First Baptist Church in Wellston.

She is survived by son, Tom Sims of Ranson, West Virginia; daughter, Diane Thornbury of Tipp City; grandchildren: Leslie Sims, Carrie Sims, Jeff Sims, Andrew Thornbury (Erika) and Jennifer Thornbury; sisters: Marilyn Neal of Fostoria, Carolyn Morgan (Virgil) of Wellston and Martha Bitonte (Joseph) of Columbus; along with several great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Charles R. “Chod” Sims in 2010; daughter-in-law, Sandy Sims; son-in-law, Tim Thornbury; grandson, Matthew Saunders; sister and brother-in-law, Mary Lou and Bill Partlow; and brother-in-law, Kerroll Neal.

In keeping with Phyllis’s request, there will be no calling hours. A graveside service will be held Thursday, June 9 at 1 p.m. at the Ridgewood Cemetery with Pastor Tim Jones officiating.
