Paul Walton, Jr.

Paul E. Walton, Jr., age 74, of Wellston, passed away Tuesday, January 11, 2022, at Holzer Medical Center in Gallipolis. He was born December 31, 1947, in Gallipolis, Ohio to the late Paul E. Walton, Sr. and Helen E. Frazee Walton. Paul was a 1965 graduate of Wellston High School and later received a degree in law enforcement. He was a proud veteran of the United States Army who served during the Vietnam War. Paul was a former police officer with the Hopewell Police Department in Virginia, and retired form Martin Marietta, where he was employed as a security police officer. Being very musically talented, Paul loved music and enjoyed singing and playing the guitar. He was an avid Ohio State Buckeyes fan and always stayed loyal to the Cleveland Browns. Paul was a member of the American Legion Post 371 in Wellston and the Black Diamond Lodge #538 F&AM in Wellston.

He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Heather and Tony Bradley of Wellston; grandchildren: Melena Rapp and husband, J.B., of Columbus, Georgia, and Heath Bradley of Wellston; and sister, Faye Wiggins of Pomeroy. Besides his parents, Paul was preceded in death by his wife, Elizabeth “Liz” Walton in 2001; and his brother, Tom Matteson.

Calling hours will be Saturday, January 15, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the McWilliams Funeral Home in Wellston. Funeral services will follow the calling hours at 1 p.m. with Pastor Tim Jones officiating. Burial, with military honors, will be in the Hamden Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family would prefer contributions be given to a favorite charity of one’s choice.
