Orie E. Sickles Sr., age 90, of Jackson, Ohio, passed away Sunday, February 19, 2012, at Georgetown, Ohio Veterans Home. He was born in Jackson County, Ohio, on January 9, 1922. He was preceded in death by his wife, Wilma Sickles; son, Donald Sickles; parents, Lafayette and Bertha Sickles; two brothers, Orin and Sam Sickles; and sister, Dorothy Music.
Orie was a U.S. Navy veteran, a member of the Farmer Sportsman Club and farming was his life.
He is survived by two sons, Orie Sickles, Jr. and William (Teri) Sickles, both of Jackson, Ohio; daughter, Shirley (Jim) Shepherd of McArthur, Ohio; 10 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
Friends may call at the Mayhew-Brown Funeral Home Wednesday, February 22 from 6 to 8 p.m., where funeral service will be held on Thursday, February 23 at 1 p.m. with Pastor Nathan Kingrey officiating. Burial will follow in the Evergreen Cemetery.
