Margaret “Maggie” Dickerson

Margaret L. “Maggie” Dickerson, age 84, of Wellston, passed away unexpectedly Friday, June 3, 2016 at the Holzer Medical Center ER in Jackson, Ohio. She was born February 24, 1932 in Vinton County, Ohio, daughter of the late Herbert McKinniss and Pauline Rachael Winston Thew.

Maggie, a 1950 graduate of Wilkesville High School, was a loving homemaker whose favorite pastimes included bowling, coloring, word search puzzles and playing (and winning) cards. She was a member of the Wellston Church of God, where she was very active as long as her health permitted.

Maggie is survived by her children, Patricia Bennett (Larry) of Somerset, Pam Swanson (Ronald) of Whitehall, Phillip Strausbaugh (Trina) of Chillicothe, Cheryl Davis (Mike) of Wellston and Connie Dickerson of Wellston; sister, Carolyn Slone (Ed) of Delaware, Oh.; cousin Dennis Byrd of Marion, as well as 20 grandchildren, 47 great-grandchildren, 9 great-great-grandchildren, along with countless others who knew her as grandma. Besides her parents, Maggie was preceded in death by her husband, Arnold Dickerson in 2005; son Pat Strausbaugh; brother, Mike McKinniss; and step-mother, Helen McKinniss.

Calling hours will be Monday from 4 to 8 P.M. at the McWilliams Funeral Home in Wellston. Funeral service will be Tuesday at 1 P.M. at the McWilliams Funeral Home. Burial will follow in the Ridgewood Cemetery.
