Lenoir Gillen Collins Frick

Lenoir Gillen Collins Frick, age 84, of Lancaster, and a former resident of Wellston, passed away Wednesday, Oct. 7, 2020, at Reflections Retirement Community in Lancaster, Ohio.  She was born Nov. 7, 1935 in Wellston, Ohio, the daughter of the late Judge Roy J. Gillen and Myrna Estes Gillen.  

Lenoir was a 1953 graduate of Wellston High School and a 1956 graduate of the Mt. Carmel School of Nursing.  She was a registered nurse for 51 years, as well as a former employee of Southeastern Business College and Huston Nursing Home.  Lenoir enjoyed reading, playing the piano and crafts of all kinds, and, most of all, being a grandmother.  She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Wellston, where she served as a deacon, elder and Sunday school teacher for many years.  In later years she continued to serve, organizing the Bible study for the Reflections Retirement Community in Lancaster.

Lenoir is survived by her sons, Richard Frick (Jeanne) of Haskell, New Jersey, Dr. Lawrence Frick (Marci) of Nicholasville, Kentucky and David Frick (Julie) of Lancaster; grandchildren, Nathan Frick, Lauren Frick and Hannah Frick; and many nieces and nephews. 

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Richard Evan Collins; her brothers, Joe Gillen, William H. Gillen and Dr. John Gillen; and her sisters, Margaret Gillen Denny and Louise Gillen Harrison.

The family would like to express appreciation for the care given to her by the staff at Reflections in Lancaster and Fairhope Hospice in her last months of life. 

In keeping with Lenoir’s wishes, her body was cremated.  A Celebration of Life service will be held Saturday, Oct. 24, 2020 at 11 a.m. at the First Presbyterian Church in Wellston with Pastor John Pelletier officiating.  Family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.  

In lieu of flowers, it was Lenoir’s wish that memorial contributions be given to Frick Ministries c/o Go International, P.O. Box 123, Wilmore, KY 40390 or to the First Presbyterian Church Memorial Fund, 18 S. Pennsylvania Ave., Wellston, OH 45692.
