Lawrence E. Phipps, age 74, of Jackson, formerly of Milford, Delaware, passed away on Friday, October 21, 2016 at Holzer Medical Center in Jackson. He was born on February 4, 1942 in Paintsville, Kentucky to the late Sammie and Jane (Webb) Phipps. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Phyllis Silva.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Clareann (Lambert) Phipps; three sons: Todd (Doris) Phipps, Tim Phipps and Ty (Kasey DaLessio) Phipps; a daughter, Traci (Bill) Tomlinson; nine grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Also surviving are a brother, Dan (Susan) Phipps, and a sister, Becky (Alan) Bickle.
Larry was a graduate of Jackson High School, Class of 1961. He served with the United States Air Force in Vietnam and retired from the Air Force after 23 years. He then went into the heating and air-conditioning business. He was a member of the Moose Lodge and the VFW, and he really enjoyed surf fishing.
The family will receive friends at the Mayhew-Brown Funeral Home on Sunday, October 23 from 1 to 2 p.m. Private internment will be held at a later date.
