Kay Beiting

Mary Katherine “Kay” Heilker Beiting, age 74, passed away peacefully on Oct. 25, 2021, in Cary, NC, from complications of Alzheimer’s disease. Kay was born in Norwich, NY, the daughter of John H. and Catherine Byrnes Heilker. She graduated from Summit Country Day in Cincinnati in 1965 and received her bachelor’s degree and a Master’s in Speech Pathology from the University of Cincinnati. She and Otto Beiting were married for nearly 51 years and lived most of their lives in Wellston and Jackson, Ohio.

Kay belonged to Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church and worked for many years as a speech therapist for the Jackson County School System. She loved gardening, crafts, proper grammar, interior decorating, all things Christmas and any baby she could get her hands on.

Kay was predeceased by her parents; her sister, Jane; and her husband, Otto. She is survived by daughter, Jan, of Cary, NC; son, Thomas and wife Heather of Sabina, OH; son, Daniel and wife Jessica of Moorestown, NJ; brother-in-law Antonio Polo; and 6 grandchildren (Laith, Zaid, Hayden, Sydney, Sean and Ryan). The family thanks Mary Roddy and the staff at Holzer Assisted Living and Brookdale Cary for their care in Mom’s last years.

The family will receive visitors on Saturday, Nov. 6, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at McWilliams Funeral Home in Wellston. Private family burial will follow at Salem Cemetery. Masks are kindly requested. Online condolences can be sent to the family at www.mcwilliams-funeralhome.com
