John Thomas Harris finished his life’s journey at 3 p.m.Sunday, August 10. A WWII Navy Veteran, John was born in Jackson, Ohio to Maude and Leroy Harris on November 23 , 1923. His life’s work was in Masonry.
He was predeceased by his parents, five sisters, Virgie Richardson, Fannie (Donnie) Coursey, Katherine Buchanan, Edith “Kate” Freeman and Ruby Harris; two brothers, James and Robert Harris; a beloved sister-in-law, Thelma Harris; and his dearest friend, Mercy, his dog. He leaves behind to remember him nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of close friends; the dearest and closest friend of all, Sandy Smith, his caretaker who was with him throughout his last years.
At his request, a memorial service will be held at the Chapel of Caliman Funeral Services, 3700 Refugee Rd, Columbus, Ohio, 1 p.m. Friday, August 15. Interment Green Lawn Cemetery.
