John D. Fugett, age 76, of Jackson, passed away on Thursday, June 20, 2019, at the VA Medical Center in Chillicothe, Ohio. He was born in Jackson, Ohio on Sept. 29, 1942, to the late Lester Claude Fugett and Thelma Ethel (Cottle) Fugett.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers: Willis Fugett, Marion Fugett, Olan Fugett, and Daniel Fugett; and sisters: Juanita Ames, Clara Howard and Ima Jean Swingle.
John is survived by his wife, Kathy Jean (Gilliland) Fugett, of Jackson; daughter, Kimberly Burns of Jackson; sons, John David “J.D.” (Melissa) Fugett of Jackson and Jerad Stanley of Lancaster; one sister, Shirley Richards; grandchildren, Jennifer D. Burns, Trista P. Fugett, John David III “Trey” Fugett and Jordynn Stanley; great grandson, Kendrick “Raztaz” Hill; sisters-in-law, Linda McGinnis of Wellston, Sue Van Wie of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, and Kristy (Terry) Napper of Hamden; brother-in-law, Terry Peck of Florida; special life-long friend, Frank Fee of New York; friend, Lou Amory of Florida and several nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held at the Mayhew-Brown Funeral Home on Tuesday, June 25, 2019. Burial will be at the convenience of the family. Family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday, June 24 from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Mayhew-Brown Funeral Home in Jackson and Southern Ohio Cremation Services.
