On Tuesday, January 4, 2022, Jeffrey Linn Simpson, age 67, of Oak Hill, Ohio went to be with his heavenly father. Jeff was born on November 21, 1954, to Herb Simpson Sr. and Norma Jean (Kiser) Simpson.
Jeff was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers: James Vernon, Charles Vernon, Robert and Michael Simpson; one sister, Teresa Simpson; and two brothers-in-law: Dean Johnson and Larry Hightower. He is survived by his three sons: Michael (Laura) Simpson, of Portsmouth, Chris Simpson and Scott (Tracy) Simpson, of Oak Hill; eight grandchildren; and one great grandchild. He is also survived by his brothers and sisters: Herb (Linda) Simpson, Fred (Shirley) Simpson, Tim (Lorie) Simpson, Pamela Johnson and Patti Hightower, all of Oak Hill, Ohio and Virginia, and Vernon, of Ashville, Ohio; along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family members.
Jeff spent many years in the woods as a sawyer and later went on to work at Addington Coal Mine. He then finished his career at Pillsbury, in Wellston, Ohio. Later in his life, he gave his life to Christ and attended Freewill Baptist Church in Oak Hill. Jeff was an avid Buckeyes fan who couldn’t wait for gameday Saturdays. He enjoyed fishing and traveling to places he’d never been.
His sons would like to thank Jeff’s siblings for the love and support they’ve shown during their father’s entire life, especially during his illness.
Graveside services will be held 12 p.m. Friday, January 7, 2022, at New Zion Cemetery with Pastor Allen Simpson officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of the Lewis & Gillum Funeral Home of Oak Hill. Online condolences may be sent to www.lewisgillum.com
